Update 10/27/2026
October 27, 2026
1. After a very smooth first weekend, we had a quite challenging second weekend. Last minute cancellations, no shows with zero communication, a sick referee, transportation issues, eligibility issues, uniform issues, etc. You name it, we had it. Big thanks to many of you who stepped up to help out. We hope that things still went smoothly from your perspective as participants.
So here are some reminders as we move forward.
• If you encounter any issues on the day of the tournament, please contact me first (JUNG) at 203-645-1583. Texting me is the best way to reach me. You contacting "local" people does not help us to make necessary adjustments or figure out a way to help your team with whatever situation you are in.
• Eligibility: please go to https://nwvcl.org/rules.aspx and review the individual and team eligibility if you have not done so. They are very clear. You can not have non-degree seeking students or players that are not enrolled at YOUR institution on your team. When in doubt, please ask so I can assist you.
• Please be sure to clean up your area before leaving the facility.
• Financials: I will be following up on a few teams that have not paid the league dues yet. If you have not gotten a confirmation e-mail from me stating that I received your check, it has not come in.
• Tournament information: They are typically sent 8-10 days prior to the event date.
• Tournament format: During pool play we try to make sure that you see different teams from tournament to tournament whenever possible. However since many of you are choosing to limit your travel quite a bit so you may indeed end up seeing a lot of the same teams over time. We play best of 3 (25, 25, 15) set matches whenever possible. Some playoffs matches are reduced to 1 set 25 point matches due to time constraints and facility availability.
• Last Minute Tournament Cancellations:
If a team drops out from a tournament inside two weeks (14 days or less), they will forfeit their entire registration fee and be penalized neg. 100 points in the league standings. In addition they will lose priority status when registering for subsequent league events. A team that has two last minute cancellations in a season will become ineligible for the league championship that season. A team must give an e-mail notification to withdraw from a tournament at least 14 days prior to the tournament date in order to receive a full refund/credit.
